Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is retrovirus than can infect domestic cats and various other feline species. In housecats FIV is well known for causing feline AIDS, a disease which shares many similarities with AIDS in humans. FIV was first discovered in 1986 and has since been identified as an endemic disease. At the moment there's no cure for FIV-infections.
About the project
Herbs, plants and other natural compounds are often used for their (purported) immunostimulatory and immunomodulatory effects. Some of these are also used for treating the effects of FIV because of the lack for suitable specific therapies. Because ALH Nutrition seeks to improve the health of both humans and animals, ALH Nutritional Research was encouraged to start the FIV Project.
